Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Laboratory Technician (Laborant) or Biomedical Laboratory Scientist (Bioanalytiker) to support our Metabolomics Platform. The ideal candidate works with a high degree of accuracy, demonstrates independence in daily tasks, and maintains a strong sense of responsibility. Strong interpersonal skills are important, along with a genuine interest in collaborating within an international, multidisciplinary team. The position is a permanent position with a start date of August 1, 2026, or after agreement.

The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research (CBMR) is an academic research Center that pioneers groundbreaking research towards better cardiometabolic health. Through collaborative interdisciplinary research from single-cell genomics to whole-body systems, CBMR aims to transform the basic understanding of cardiometabolic health and accelerate its translation into prevention and treatment strategies. The Center’s uniquely multi- and interdisciplinary approach combines research in genetics, physiology and pharmacology, to better understand the complex interplay of the many factors that drive cardiometabolic disease. CBMR was established in 2010 at the Faculty of Health & Medical Sciences and has been located in the Maersk Tower at Panum since 2017. The around 260 employees create an international, highly collaborative research environment across disciplines.
About the Metabolomics Platform
The Metabolomics Platform is one of six enabling biology and technology platforms at the Center for Basic Metabolic Research (CBMR). The platform provides advanced metabolite and lipid analysis workflows to support research programs at CBMR and the broader research community.Further information about the platform is available here.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing samples for metabolomics/ lipidomics analysis
- Handling a range of sample types, including biological fluids, tissues and other materials, and preparing samples from large scale human studies using automated liquid handlers
- Documenting all laboratory work accurately using electronic lab notebooks
- Monitoring laboratory stocks, and ensuring timely replenishment
- Registering and tracking chemicals according to safety regulations
- Maintaining laboratory instrumentation routinely
- Updating documentation including SOPs and safety documents
- Organizing the laboratory and related space to be a clean, safe and functional environment
- Supporting additional laboratory or organizational tasks as needed.
Candidate Profile
- Degree as a Laboratory Technician (Laborant) or Biomedical Laboratory Scientist (Bioanalytiker – academy profession degree or equivalent, recognized by the Danish Agency for Higher Education and Science)
- 2–3 years of hands-on experience in a laboratory environment
- Strong practical skills in biochemistry and/or bioanalytical techniques
- Experience with metabolomics or small-molecule analysis workflows is an advantage, but not required
- Familiarity with automated liquid handling systems is an advantage
- Solid understanding of chemical safety and safe laboratory practices and experience working with chemical database such as Kemibrug
- Able to work independently, manage time effectively, and stay flexible
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills in English (written and spoken); Danish is an advantage but not required
